Textures of Distance and Fragile Space (2026)

Organically toned cyanotype of analog film on mesh and tissue paper, basswood base

Textures of Distance and Fragile Space is about long distance comittement in the context of an international romantic relationship. Each image is a moment of banality, but serves as a cherished memory of touch, texture and sight. Shifting from close ups of organic elements to moments in time plays Themes commonly explored are intuition and introspection, space and distance (both physical and digital), and embodiement.

The use of delicate tissue paper and mesh reinforces the fragility of international love, and the repetitive water based toning procress further fragilizes the media, forcing resilience and transformation. The base is brut and untreated, meant to highlight possibilities and the future.

The material moves and adapts to its environment while staying attached to the basswood, such as love under political parameters.

Conceived and made in Taos, New Mexico.
